Maurice Hobbs b.ca.1615 d.4 Jan 1706 buried North Hampton Burial Ground, Hampton NH
Memorial tombstone is for him, but with errors. The vital record of his death in Jan 1705/6 says he is "upwards of 91", so born prior to 1615 - could have been earlier since we don't know exact age. The year of death on this stone is wrong, but the 91 years, combined with him being born in England, makes it very likely this is who is meant to be memorialized when it was made in the 1800s.
Also, the second Maurice on the stone is his son, and the third is his great grandson.

Tombstone of Elizabeth (Palmer) Ayer 1624-24 Apr 1705 - Next to the stone of Captain Samuel Ayer in Pentucket Cemetery in Haverhill MA is this stone inscribed: Here lys ye body of Elizabeth wife of" and the stone is broken off here. Since Captain Samuel Ayer's mother is Elizabeth (Palmer) Ayer, she died 3 years before her son and the styling is identical, it certainly seems probable that he was buried next to her and that this is her stone.

Tombstone of Lee S Burton b.ca.1809 d.27 May 1880, buried Hopedale Cemetery, Harrison county OH. - Note: Green Township Cemeteries Vol 5 pg 220 (SLC 977.168/G1 V39g) says: "Died of old age in his 7y d.30 Oct 1862. Since he was alive in 1880, the stone was obviously misread. A local researcher, Dorothea Greer pursued this matter and found "Historical Collections of Harrison County" by Charles Hanna which says: "Lee S. Burton, d. May 27, 1882; 73y." She sent a copy of the tombstone, and though not entirely clear, it's obvious the latter citation is the correct one, and commented "I could not find a stone for Lee S. Burton. I looked on the other side of Ellen Burton's stone. ... looked more ornate ...chalked the stone ... completely surprised when I saw the Burton name show up ... the stone matches what is in Charles Hanna's reading. ... I could really see why our readers missed this stone completely. I think they read Hannah's stone as Lee S. Burton's stone because of the inscription, wife of Lee S Burton".

"Benjamin Butler Stone was born in Green Township, Harrison County, Ohio on 22 March 1812. He was the son of Jeremiah Asbury Stone and Hanna Reed and was the grandson of Rev. Benjamin Stone, who served in General Washington's army at Valley Forge. His early life was spent on a farm. At the age of eighteen, he went to Keene in Coshocton County, Ohio to learn the blacksmith's trade; however, he eventually returned to farming. On 27 December 1834, he married Lura Bassett, the daughter of William Bassett and Elizabeth Stone of Keene, New Hampshire. They had one son, Maro Farwell Stone.
Benjamin was a lover of music and taught in singing schools for a time in eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. He also attended some of the most noted musical conventions in the country as held by Lowell Mason, Dr. Webb, A.N. Johnson and others. For several years, he taught in the public schools and the seminary at Wheeling, West Virginia.
During the Civil War, as a civilian, Benjamin Butler Stone was the inspector and superintendent of all United States government supply wagon trains for the army's Mountain Department in West Virginia and after the Department's re-designations in Virginia as the 1st and then the 11th Army Corps under the command of Major General Franz Sigel.
He was subsequently commissioned as Provost Marshal for the First Congressional District of the State of West Virginia with the rank of captain on 9 September 1863. He served in that capacity until discharged from active federal service on 5 October 1865.
After the war, he was engaged in the shoe and boot business with his son at Wheeling until 24 March 1870, when he relocated to Cambridge in Guernsey County, Ohio. He then traveled for a number of years for eastern shoe houses. His son, Maro, died in 1877.
Captain Benjamin Butler Stone was a member of the Presbyterian Church for over forty years and died at his home in Cambridge, Ohio on 30 April 1891. The heart disease from which he ultimately died was caused by a carriage accident near Youngstown, Ohio several years before his death. Captain Stone is buried in the Old City Cemetery in Cambridge. His widow died in 1894."

In August 2008 there was an eBay auction for a letter. The description read:
Here's an old envelope, which also has a letter with it. The envelope has a postmark for CARLISLE PA, flag cancel OCT 9, 1899, with two cent stamp, small tear at corner of stamp.
It's addressed to Mrs. E. Southard, Washington, D.C. Receiving postmark for the same town on the reverse of envelope, BARRY style.
The enclosure consists of an approximate four page letter on sheets of folded paper, written by Isabella to 'Dearest Mother.
The dateline is 'Oakland', Oct 9, '99 [1899].
There's lots on Edmund Southard Parker in the book "Men of Mark in America: Ideals of American Life Told in Biographies ..." etc. He married M. Isabella Wilson, of Mifflintown, PA. Their daughter Isabella Jane, writer of this letter, was born in 1870. About her father: "... banker, financier, president of the National Metropolitan Citizens Bank of Washington, District of Columbia, was born in Mifflintown, PA, October 25, 1839, son of Andrew Parker and Ann Eliza Doty, descendants of early settlers of Pennsylvaina. His father was a prominent lawyer, represented his district in the lower house of congress, and for some years was a resident of Washington, District of Columbia ..."
Some abstracts:
"To feel that you have been entirely forgotten by your family is not the most gratifying sensation imaginable. It is indeed inexcusable that I have not had a single line from anyone ..."
"... the men of the house are already off to business and cousin Beckie is pettering about in the same way she has been doing for at least half a century. She really is a fine housekeeper but I am convinced there is such a thing as being too particular."
"Cousin Robert .... invited me to go over to the Indian School with him to a lecture. Mrs. Rusney and her daughter, who teaches at the school were here for supper that evening."
"... the Henderson girls here had a great deal that is terribly trying to contend with ..."
"Friday has the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of the Indian school. They celebrated having all day exercises. The addresses of the evening were given by Mr. Jones, (Washington Commissioner of Indian Affairs), a Dr. Gates (who also [???] lives in Washington) and who was as gifted a speaker as I have heard for many a day. He is an ex Pres. of Amherst College. There were four or five other speakers.. Cousin Robert was one and his was one of the cleverest of the evening."
And more writing. Condition of the letter rates good. The condition of the envelope is poor, paper damage around edges, separated at three sides. Tear on front cover.
Comment by us: the person describing the auction erred when he said that Isabella addressed her letter to Mrs. E. Southard as the envelope clearly shows it was addressed to Mrs. E. Southard Parker. So in the description, he left off the word Parker.
