He was the son of Barnabas Little Otis (RevWar Patriot) and Mehitable Turner. 
Residence*1801 1801, Stephen Otis resided: moved to Ohio and lived a number of years on "the Ohio Company's Purchase" at Marietta, then just emerging from the state of the frontier "block-house" post, in the vicinity of which place he was living in 1853. That part of the country, at the time he settled there was almost a wilderness, and the people were in constant dread of hostile Indians.1
